The game night was good. We Wiied* and played all kinds of board games. I think we'll do it again--maybe after we get even more cleaned up and organized, finally get rid of those boxes. And buy some chairs, maybe. The TV stand [livejournal.com profile] crooked_hill made is perfect and really helps our living room look like a living room instead of a shrine to the RLTV. Plus it gives us more room to Wii.

I am pretty much sold on the Wii. %^&* target demographic @#+#! I still kind of suck at most of the games but at least I can figure out how to play, so I don't feel like an idiot and it's fun. I'm not going to buy one today,** but I'd give it a better than 50% chance that we'll own one eventually. Mmm, better than 60%.

In reality our only Wii-related incident was when Somebody hit an almost-empty soda can into the TV. But last night I dreamed that we'd duct taped steak knives to the ends of the Wiimotes. Not to actually try to hurt anyone, just to add to the excitement and danger. Yay?

* Don't ask me why I have such an aversion to the words "gaming" and "gamer" but am totally willing to use "Wii" as a verb. My reasons would only offend you.

** Unless you've got one to sell, real cheap

My parents--my mother, mostly--used to take us all sorts of places and to see all kinds of Important People. I have met Madeleine L'Engle and Beverly Cleary at book signings, and I've had an actual conversation with Gloria Steinem.

Maya Angelou was one of the memorable ones, and I saw her again this evening. )
