James left this morning for a 3-day business trip to California. This is gonna be weird. Normally I'm the one running off to visit my brother, or help cook at camp, or supervise a dang 5th-grade sleepover, while he stays home. And I don't even do much of that. It's not that we can't spend time apart; a fall Saturday afternoon is as likely to find him off watching the Aggies and me out for tea as it is to find the two of us together. But, y'know, we got married 'cause we like each other (and love each other, of course, but you gotta have both), and we don't seem to get sick of spending time together. Even dumb errands like going to the hardware store are fun together.
And now I'm alone here until Wednesday. I won't have tons of time to enjoy it, as late as I've been working lately. But when I'm done, I'll pick up some nice spicy mushroomy Vietnamese take-out, wrap myself in blankets and cats in lieu of husband cuddles, and wield, just once, the awesome power of the remote.
By Wednesday, I'll probably miss ignoring the World Series of Poker. Don't tell!
