You know those Home Depot commercials where they show their employees in orange T-shirts, doing some big community service project in an impoverished neighborhood? And you think cynical, skeptical thoughts about how they're probably showing the same project they did back in 1997? How helping Katrina victims is good PR but what have they really done around here lately?
Well, this morning up at school, a swarm of 200 orange-T-shirted Home Depot people (as well as other volunteers) swarmed our play area and transformed it.

In one day, we went from pieces and torn-up asphalt to a full-on playground. They even did some painting and weeding and flower-planting while they were at it.

I was mostly happy that they weren't Wal-Mart employees, but then Wal-Mart wouldn't have given them paid time off to build a playground.
